Plummer's Office Entrance

Sheriff Henry Plummer's office at the back of Chrisman's store had its own exit and a window where he could look out at the jail he had built. Plummer's Office Entrance

His desk -- or a replica -- stands just below the window to the left of the door, and I can imagine him chatting with people who came into the store or those who wanted to arrange protection for the gold they planned to take. There are also reports that when men bought new clothes or supplies for their journeys homeward Plummer overheard them. It was an ideal place for a dishonest man to learn who was traveling where and might have gold or other valuables in their luggage and pockets.

Plummer's pals also visited him. Some of the deeds "The Innocents" were later convicted of may have been planned right there, at that desk, as they sat with their feet up enjoying a smoke.
